Los Angeles-based duo Ship Wrek, composed of Tripp Churchill and Collin Maguire, came together in 2019 and
have quickly become one of the most prolific production teams in the electronic music scene. Known for their
unique and signature sound and their high energy DJ sets, the duo has released originals and remixes that have
caught the attention of fans, press, and industry heavyweights alike. Ship Wrek has gained support from artists
such as Skrillex, Dillon Francis, Diplo, Jauz, The Chainsmokers, DJ Snake, Chris Lake, Zedd, and Tiesto, all of which
have played out their edits and music or collaborated with the duo. They recently released “The Fall” in

Checkmates
In chess, placing the opponent in checkmate refers to the king having no possible escape from capture, resulting in defeat. At a time in Starkville, MS when dance music was hard to come by at social events and local clubs, Producer/DJ Duo Checkmates was formed to create change in their college town. Cason Brown and Brandon Vanlandingham believe they are placing Starkville in checkmate by allowing them no option but to recognize the culture shift that playing house music has allowed them to create.
Since 2021, Checkmates has continued to grow regionally by building meaningful relationships with promoters, students, and business owners of all kinds throughout the Southeast. Cason and Brandon desired an authentic community that understood how house music could revolutionize the way people engaged in nightlife. Through playing remixes, mashups, and, in 2023, their released edits and originals, the community they so desired has done nothing but flourish. Checkmates provides not only exciting music selection throughout their sets, but genuine interactions everywhere they go.
After supporting acts such as MC4D, Otica, and DJ Epic, Checkmates has earned their worth through consistent fan engagement and attendance local events. Whether it is through their exciting new tech house edits or adding some energy to everyone’s favorite top 40 hits, they are excited to be emerging as true artists to look out for in the scene.
